Keyword Introduction
When Developing a website, the first thing to brain storm about is your keyword strategy. This is especially important, because keywords are what help the search engines determine what your site is about. The more content that you can put on your page that has your keywords in it, will help your rankings with Google and Yahoo. This is why the first thing you should do is get your list of keywords to use for your content on your pages, otherwise you will come up in the search engines for something entirely different than what you intended. Make a list of 20 words and phrases that describe your site. Once you have your list run them through Keyword Tools to get a list of 300. Then you are ready to move on to writing some content.

Keyword Tools
If you are on a budget or this is your first time developing a site, then I recommend using adwords by Google. This is a great keyword tool and it is free. If you have a little bit to spend on this project, then wordtracker is a great tool to use. Now if you have a larger budget and want the best in keyword tools, then go with Hubspot. Hubspot has website grading tools along with many ways to generate keywords, track your keyword success and your competition. These kind of tools are for the seriously dedicated seo specialists.

Keyword Strategy
A good strategy to use when it comes to keywords is pick your favorite word that describes your site and put that definitely on every page, then take your next 5 – 10 words and phrases and make pages dedicated to them. This will get you to rank on a few words or phrases. Plus it will give possible multiple entry points to your site. The rest of the words and phrases use throughout the site as you wish.

Keyword Tips

  1. Put Keywords first in your title for your page.
  2. List Keywords in your meta tags for keywords and description
  3. Use Keywords in anchor text for links
  4. Use <H1> tags for Main Keywords to divide content on page.
  5. Use Keywords to describe pictures in naming attribute.

Keyword Conclusion
Without a plan, you can not have an attack. Without attack, there is no victory. You will need a good plan in place for your content if you plan on landing on the first page. Do the research and find out what your competition is doing before you plan for yourself. This will help you pick your battles on your way to the top.
